110 Head of Milking High Grade Free-Stall Adapted Holstein Dairy Cows
This is an exceptionally good herd of dairy cows that have been well bred for many years. The herd is housed in a free-stall barn, milked 2X per day in a double 8 step up parlor and will adjust well to most any housing & milking systems. Top AI sires from several bull studs have been used for many years resulting in fancy well attached udders and exceptionally good feet & legs. The Schuettes have selected their service sires for Productive life, daughter preg rate & SCC; as well as good overall type. Current bulk tank and milk plant records show a 74 lb. per cow average w/3.8% B.F. and 3.0 P and a SCC of only 73,000. They have received the Clark Co. quality milk award for the last 7 years. This is the lowest SCC herd we have had the opportunity to sell. All cattle selling in this sale will be milking cows; the Schuettes are keeping all of their dry cows and heifers. Current production info. on all cows will be available in the catalog. There will be several cows milking 80-120 lbs. per day w/no BGH used. Approximately 35 cows are fresh within the last 60 days. This is a very young herd of cows w/70% of the herd being in the 1st or 2nd lactation w/many productive years ahead of them. Herd health is excellent with a monthly herd health program used. All vaccinations are current w/cows receiving their annual 9-way Bovi-Shield vaccines. At dry off, all cows are dewormed with Eprinex and vaccinated with Scour-Guard, Presponse and SRP. Endovac Bovi is given 1 week post fresh. The current calving interval in the herd is 13 months with a 51% first service conception rate. The herd is on a routine hoof trimming schedule as well. The herd has been on a Johnes testing program for 12 years, with only three test positive cows having been found in the last three years. A catalog w/all pertinent production, SCC and breeding info will be available.
